"I was on my way to buy some roast beef for Lady Rosanna's cook when the thing got out of an alley and leaped in the midst of the crowd. You know sir, I may be Irish but I'm not gullible : that beast was worse than those creatures of the fairytales and legends. With its claws, it was crawling and slashing people. It was awful. I saw a delivery boy ripped open and the ground was covered in blood like at a slaughter house."
